Kelly was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, where her father was an attorney and her grandmother was the first female Clerk of Court in the State – the 4th Circuit Court of Appeal. She graduated from Tulane University, Newcomb College, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and Phi Beta Kappa, and then went on to receive her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University College of Law in 1994. While in law school, Kelly was a member of the Loyola Law Review and Moot Court staff. She earned multiple awards for attaining the highest grade in her courses and received the Faculty Award for graduating with the highest average in her class.

In Kelly’s twenty years of practice, she has become proficient in several distinctive practice areas. She has a talent for bringing order to complex, multi-party litigation. She sees the big picture and develops a plan of action to achieve the results desired by her clients. Early in her practice, she concentrated on toxic torts and environmental coverage issues, and continues that work today. For fifteen years, she has practiced in the field of medical device litigation, including work with national counsel. She has also practiced in the construction defect arena for nearly fifteen years, representing general contractors, subcontractors, and insurers. She has orchestrated innovative resolutions in that field that have resulted in tremendous cost-savings to her clients. Following Hurricane Katrina, Kelly represented a first party property carrier in it hurricane litigation and managed a portfolio of approximately 350 cases involving agent liability. Today, she continues to handle bad faith and extra-contractual litigation for insurers.

Professional Affiliations

As a member of the Federal Bar Association and the Louisiana State Bar Association, Kelly is licensed to practice in all Louisiana state and federal courts. She is also a member of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. Kelly is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel.
