- Personal Injury Defense
Raven has dedicated her career to defending corporations and their insurers in matters involving complex trucking and transportation litigation, product liability, insurance coverage, general liability, and personal injury claims.
Although a highly-skilled and commanding trial attorney, Raven believes that the definition of success belongs to her clients. She partners closely with each of her clients to develop a strategy consistent with their unique business structure and philosophy. She believes in tailored discovery and targeted motion practice focused on resolving each claim in a manner that will have the least amount of impact on her client’s business. She is uniquely adept in early case resolution through the skillful extraction of key evidence, witness testimony, and attention to the details of discovery. As a testament to both her dedication to her clients and her courtroom success, Raven has been named a Louisiana Super Lawyers Rising Star and has been selected for membership in the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC), an international organization of peer-reviewed and peer-nominated members who have achieved professional distinction as leaders in the legal community.
TRUCKING & TRANSPORTATION
Before joining Duplass, Raven practiced at a regional, boutique trucking and transportation defense firm and has devoted much of her passion and practice to the industry since. She routinely defends and advises leading national and regional LTL and FTL trucking carriers and their insurers in matters ranging from multi-injury catastrophic accidents and citation defense to DOT, LADOT, and FMCSA regulation and compliance.
As one of the firm’s 24/7 Emergency Response Team leads, Raven stands ready to protect her clients throughout all stages of a claim, from the initial mobilization and coordination of experts at the scene of an accident through – when necessary – an aggressive defense at trial. No stranger to the courtroom, Raven has successfully tried numerous jury and bench trials to verdict for both catastrophic and low impact accidents and has secured multiple defense verdicts in cases involving mTBI claims, inflated billing practices, and reptile theory appeals.
PRODUCT LIABILITY
In addition to her experience in general liability and trucking and transportation matters, Raven has also devoted much of her litigation practice to defending Fortune 100 and 500 manufacturers in product liability disputes. Raven has skillfully cross-examined countless expert witnesses and successfully defended against high-profile matters, frequently involving demands of seven, eight, and nine-figures.
Raven’s role on the firm’s 24/7 Emergency Response Team also extends to her product liability clients. She responds swiftly and comprehensively to any incident, preserving evidence, calling on the appropriate experts, providing early case assessment, and protecting her clients’ interests from the inception of the claim.
EDUCATION
Raven earned her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University College of Law in New Orleans. She served as a member of the Moot Court Program and research assistant to Professor Monica Wallace. Raven’s love for the courtroom began as a Rule XX student practitioner with the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office where she successfully argued before Judge Benedict Willard in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court on a number of criminal matters. Prior to law school, Raven obtained a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Bar Admissions
Raven is licensed to practice in all Louisiana State and Federal Courts as well as all Texas State Courts.
Community Involvement
Raven’s advocacy extends far beyond the courtrooms in which she practices. In addition to volunteering with a variety of organizations that aid the local community, Raven participated in the Annual Bad to the Bone: Rescued on the Runway Fashion Showbenefiting the Humane Society of Louisiana. She was also a member of The Good Shepard School fall fundraising committee, which raises funds to support an exceptional education program for at-risk, under-served children throughout the City of New Orleans. As a testament to her work in the community, Raven was named a 2015 Spotlight on Success Honoree for the March of Dimes.
