Ravi P. Varma

Biography
Ravi is a first-generation American who grew up in Auburn, AL. After earning his BA from Loyola University of New Orleans, Ravi worked as a business analyst for a Federal Government Contractor in Washington, D.C., and he worked closely with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) for the provision and procurement of information technology services.
In 2015, Ravi returned to New Orleans to attend Tulane University School of Law. While at Tulane, Ravi externed with Councilmember Susan Guidry where he analyzed proposed and current legislative solutions and their impacts on the City of New Orleans. Ravi’s work with the City Council focused on land use, zoning, incentives for real estate developers, historic preservation, and regulations for short-term rentals. Ravi also spent time interning with the ELLA (Entertainment Law and Legal Assistance) Project in New Orleans, with a focus on copyright, trademark, business and commercial law issues.
After graduating from Tulane Law in 2018, Ravi began his legal career working as an associate attorney with a law firm in New Orleans. Ravi’s practice focused on construction law, personal injury, insurance defense, and commercial litigation. Following Covid, Ravi began working as a trademark attorney in Austin, Texas. Ravi’s trademark work consists of providing trademark clearance opinions, trademark registration and renewal services, arguing against refusals issued by the USPTO, and assisting clients with third-party matters to resolve trademark disputes. Ravi has advised clients across a broad range of industries on trademark use and registrability, spanning medical technology, fintech, social media, blockchain technologies, fashion, architecture, entertainment, and more.
In 2025, Ravi decided to return to his adopted home of New Orleans and joined Duplass APLC. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors, traveling, and dabbling in amateur boxing, with his most recent match and win in October of 2024.
