Education and Experience
Simone is a native of Vermilion Parish, in the heart of Southern Louisiana’s “Cajun Country.” She grew up in a family made up of four generations of advanced educators, but Simone knew early on that she had a passion for a legal career. She attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2006. During her years at ULL., Simone worked for the Dean of the Political Science Department until she graduated from the department. She soon decided to attend law school and received an academic scholarship to the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert School of Law (LSU Law). During that time, she interned with the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Criminal Department. Simone graduated from LSU Law in 2011 with a joint Juris Doctorate and a Graduate Diploma in Comparative Law.
Simone started her career at a highly reputable Plaintiff’s firm in Lafayette, Louisiana. The firm required integrity, honesty, and an unwavering work ethic. Simone spent her first 12 years of practice in this field and specialized in all aspects of comprehensive case analysis and trial preparation in the areas of premises liability cases, automobile accidents, commercial trucking accidents, workers’ compensation accidents, and social security disability cases. She developed a skill set in trial work with an emphasis on communication, risk analysis, case strategy, damages, and jury selection. During this time, Simone was an active member and on the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Association of Justice.
Simone also practices in the fields of labor and employment law, racial discrimination, and civil and criminal defense work. She has handled widely-publicized cases on behalf of high-level law enforcement officers, classified and unclassified state civil servants, tenured university professors, and other public educators who were improperly discharged. She has also represented individuals in cases against law enforcement officers accused of Fourth Amendment civil rights violations and 42 U.S. Code § 1983 civil rights deprivations.
In the last few years, Simone prepared a successful brief in response to a certified question issued from the United States Court of Appeal for the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal to the Louisiana Supreme Court, which sought clarification of an unresolved area of Louisiana law involving the question of proper notice, and the interruption of prescription.
Simone’s practice also focuses on general commercial liability insurance defense, including construction litigation cases on behalf of a variety of subcontractors and engineers, fire damage claims, premise liability cases, and automobile and trucking litigation.
Simone has the unique benefit of having practiced on both sides of litigation practice, and though she has dedicated her career to the art of trial practice, her sense of risk analysis, keen instincts, and attention to detail inevitably lead to an early resolution of claims and optimal results for her clients.
